Wednesday Night Shoot in Vegas #2

September 30, 2011 By Ted Leave a Comment

I’m lucky enough to live in one of the most photogenic cities, full of landmarks recognizable worldwide. The second in our series of Wednesday Night Shoots in Vegas was just as enjoyable as the first. My friend, Garret Winslow and I headed out, driving toward the strip, discussing what we wanted to shoot this evening.

If I Can Make It There…

We settled on an iconic shot of New York New York at nautical sunset. This is an awesome time of day to get gorgeous deep blue sky, highlighted with the accents of the cities lights begining to stand out in the dark. Last week we took advantage of this light to get shots of City Center. You can see my pic from that shoot here.

To Color or Not To Color

As gorgeous as the colors can be at this time of day, when I was doing the edits of these photos I was more drawn to a less color-saturated image. Here is a sepia and black & white version of my NYNY shots.

Sepia version of the shot at the top of the post.

Here’s a black & white version of another angle. Seeing the NYNY casino/hotel/resort/spa/etc… in black and white kind of gives it more of the feel of the real version (to me, anyway).

Garret Winslow (GW)

This is a shot I got of GW that night. If you haven’t checked out this guys work yet you need to do that. He’s currently developing his own site, but you can still see more of his (and his partner, JB’s) work on BrooksAvenueStudios.com.
