Monday of this week I woke up to gray sky. Many people around the country might not see this as such a positive thing, but when you live in Las Vegas, this is a rare occurrence! I had a feeling this would be a fun day to head down to the Strip to see how people were dealing with the rain.
Ya know, for the most part people seemed to be really enjoying the weather. I saw a lot of umbrellas that day and people wading through the streams of flowing water rushing down Las Vegas Blvd.
Nifty-Fifty
I would normally grab my Fuji X100 for this type of outing, but I was in the mood to use my 50mm f1.2 lens and my Canon. The Fuji often puts people more at ease, whereas the 5D Mark II can be a bit intimidating when someone’s pointing it at you while you’re on vacation. But the weather seemed to have everyone in such a good mood that no one seemed to mind. Also with the extra sound of water in the street as cars drove by, it helped to minimize the shutter sound of the DSLR.
Anyway, fun day and very glad I took the time to get out. Click on any of the images to see a larger version.
