Grants Pass, Oregon – Rural Beauty

September 8, 2012 By Ted Leave a Comment

Living in Las Vegas, as cool as it is, there are many things that you just don’t commonly see:

  • huge trees, grass and other things that grow naturally and are native to the area.
  • horses (Tournament of Kings show at the Excalibur doesn’t count)
  • old charming buildings and homesteads (getting too old, no problem, let’s implode it!)
  • and just other beautiful aspects common to a more rural setting.
As I mentioned in my last post, I spent this week up in Grants Pass, Oregon for my mom’s 87th birthday. It was a great week and I always love going back there.

For those who have yet to visit, Grants Pass is a small town found in the beautiful setting of Southern Oregon. You’ve got mountains, trees, farmland, rivers and a very charming town. Lots of nice small shops and restaurants line the streets. Lots of farms surround the area. I had a wonderful time while I was there. I really didn’t take much time to get out and just shoot. A lot of these shots were taken during my morning walks with Mom.

The gallery below is my (for the most part) black & white pictorial account of some of the cool things I saw during my visit. The last few pics are of my mom, Margaret Vieira and her guy, Al Willie and some candid shots I took of her while she was reading from her hiking journal that she had put together over the past 40 years, recounting her hiking and skiing outings in Alaska. You can read more about that here.

Keeping it simple

My gear setup was simple on this trip. The only camera gear packed for my trip was my 5D Mark II, 50mm f1.2, an extra batter and extra cards.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy! (I sure did!)
