It’s funny, I know that I often find myself tending to use less contrast in the editing process when I’m working on photos of people. It’s typically a little more flattering or prettier and the people who are in the photos tend to favor that.
Actually, I’m a big fan of high contrast work, and to me it can bring out a lot of passion and emotion in the photo. I’ll do more of that when it comes to my street or cultural photography, but today I was working on a photo from a shoot I did with Geneva last year. (see below)
Now to me, Geneva’s beautiful coloring and features really lend themselves well to a higher contrast look. It reminds me more of black and white photography I saw when I was growing up. Geneva has that look that I often put into a category that might include others such as Sophia Loren, and I really like that look with more contrast.
Anyway, I always approach each photo on an individual basis, but you may see more of this kind of look in my photography in the future.
