Change

Fall… Oh my God, after moving back to the Pacific Northwest again I’m reminded just how beautiful this place is, especially this time of year. The fall colors… such a beautiful tapestry. I’m blown away.

Now, as spectacular as watching the colors change is…. that’s not the change I’m referring to. Not really.

Dark and Moody

I’ve been obsessed with creating dark, moody, mostly black and white film photography. It’s really what I’ve been known for, for over a decade. From the dark shots of Vegas at night, the moody alleys, to the moody black and white portraiture I created with the gals. Dark and moody was how I saw my photography.

Then a few things happened in my life that really brought about a big change in the kind of art I want to create with my camera.

First, I moved out of Vegas and landed back in the Northwest, Longview, Washington (about an hour north of Portland, OR – my favorite city) where I live with my brother and his beautiful family. That change, alone, has really opened up my vision to see in a whole new light.

The second thing is that I met an amazing woman who has also brought about a change in the way I see my art… as well as my life. Amazing how finding the right person can do that.

Color!? Nature!!?

Yep, if you’ve been watching my posts on Facebook or IG you’ve noticed a real change in the photography I’m posting. Where before I was obsessed with the dark and moody black and white… there’s been a change.

While I still focus on Feel as a main element of my photography, I now experience that Feel…. in color. Wild stuff, huh?

I’m really enjoying this new chapter in my photography. As photographers, we probably wouldn’t be satisfied by not growing…. always shooting the same thing over and over again. It’s good to change things up now and then.
