I had just mentioned in a post a while back that last year I made the jump from a Canon G9 point-and-shoot to a Rebel T2i. The Rebel T2i is a wonderful camera but I was still looking for that full-frame experience and the T2i has a smaller sensor. Also when it comes to the build of the camera, the Rebel was just a little to small and light weight for the Canon L lenses I was using on it.
Well this week I’ve happily moved up to the Canon 5D Mark II. This camera has a 21.1 mega pixel full-frame sensor, which is fantastic! The build of the body feels much better in my hands and is much more of a good fit with the full-frame lenses I’m using. I’ve wanted a full-frame body for a while now and I couldn’t be happier with this camera. I had thought about the 7D because of all the new features that body has, but I just couldn’t shake the desire for full-frame. (am I saying “full-frame” too much? Sorry… no I’m not :-))
I had also thought about waiting for the arrival of the Mark III, but I’m not great at waiting when I know I want something.
I also looked at the Canon 7D as an alternative option, just because that camera has a lot of pretty nice new features. However, I’ll just say it one more time…. full-frame!
I love this camera and it’s gonna be a great year!
