Ashtown Summer Car Show – As a photographer who’s mildly obsessed with vintage design and automotive aesthetics, I couldn’t pass up the chance to shoot at the Ashtown Summer Car Show in Longview, WA. The event, held on July 19, 2025 at Ashtown Brewing Co. on 11th Avenue, brought together a stunning lineup of pre‑’60s classics under the summer sun (AllEvents, Classic Hits 100.7 KLOG).

Ashtown Summer Car Show: A Brief History 🚗
The Ashtown Summer Car Show has quickly become an annual highlight in Longview since its inception (Facebook event pages date back a few years) (Facebook, Facebook).
Hosted by Ashtown Brewing, the event features vintage vehicle displays, family‑friendly activities, live music, raffles, and a beer garden. Proceeds support the local Go 4th Festival (AllEvents).
The name “Ashtown” comes from Ashtown Brewing, the venue’s namesake, which helped create a unique local identity. The brewery’s branding ties the name into the neighborhood’s character, making it a perfect backdrop for celebrating automotive heritage (Instagram).
Why I Took Fewer Shots at the Show
Confession: the field of gleaming classics did feel a bit like shooting fish in a barrel—every angle was postcard‑worthy. So I didn’t fire hundreds of frames. Instead, I chose to focus on quality and context.
When I see an old beauty parked on a rustic country road or in front of a weathered barn, that’s where the story lies. That’s when time travel happens. The shine might be imperfect, the patina real—the history visible in every dent and chipped paint. Those moments speak volumes. They’re less about perfection and more about narrative.

Capturing History and Context
The Ashtown Summer Car Show gave me some unforgettable frames—but it also reminded me why I’m drawn to unguarded automotive moments. Those unplanned scenes—the ones where classic cars aren’t staged on lawns or polished for judges—offer a glimpse into their soul.
That’s the magic I chase as a photographer: not just the beauty of vintage design, but its context, its existence in the world. Whether at a bustling car show or off the beaten path, I aim to capture story along with shine.
