(Note: this is just a collage of some of my own shots I’ve put together to exemplify the post title)
Have you ever been to 500px.com? If not you might want to think about it before you just click over to it.
Like a Good Photo?
If you love looking at photography, 500px.com could end up being a black hole for you. You may spend a large portion of your day not leaving the house, ordering food to be delivered and your face in front of your computer, iPad or even iPhone (for when you really just have to see some impressive shots).
I briefly talked about this site in a recent post, but thought it deserved a little more attention. 500px.com is a photo sharing site, kind of like Flickr.com, but the bar has really been raised on this site. Where Flickr.com is a great site to share everything – family photos, vacations, parties, and good stuff; 500px.com is where you only want to share your best of the best. In fact they even ask that of you when you upload your work.
Great Photographers, Great Photographs
500px is an inspiring site for me. It’s amazing to see how many talented photographers are out there doing such great work. If you go to 500px.com to just browse, particularly the Popular or Editor’s Choice categories, you’ll spend your time looking at plenty of world-class images.
The funny thing, as there are only so many hours in a day, you’ll find yourself scrolling through pages of pages of really pretty great photographs until one of the thumbnails really grabs your attention, when really most of the images you’re breezing by are all pretty fantastic photographs. So many photos… so little time.
Well, enough about me, lets talk about ME!
Self promotion time here again. You can follow me on 50opx.com at http://500px.com/tedvieira (Google+ could learn something from how 500px sets up it’s URLs!). If you’re another photographer, say hi, I’d like to see your shots too!
