A few nights ago I was looking one of my Facebook friends photos and one was so amazing that it definitely stopped me in my tracks as I scrolled down through the feed. It was a very romantic shot, black and white, shallow depth of field (beautiful blurred, out of focus elements in the image). I was inspired. So much passion in that shot that I was compelled to shoot something that night.
First problem, I didn’t happen to have any gorgeous models hanging out with me that night. So I looked around for what I could replace the model with. Well, the next best thing of course – one of my guitars!
I also wanted to work with balancing flash and candlelight. Not always easy. The trick is getting enough light on your subject without washing out the light from the candles.
Anyway, here’s the shot that, although it’s quite different from the beautiful image of my friend, it’s what comes from the inspiration I got that night.
