I was really hoping to get out and do more street/cultural photography this year, but for one reason or another I just wasn’t able to devote as much time to it as I had hoped. I really need to make a conscious effort to make time for that, because I really do love it and it can be a real source of therapy for me.
I know on some days when I just needed a break I would grab my 5D Mark II (usually with a 5omm f1.2) or my X100 and head down to the Strip ,or Freemont Street, or the Arts District and have a great time and love the images I would get.
Especially with that X100; it’s such a pure and simple setup – just a joy to shoot with. You can walk around with that camera, shoot anywhere and at anything without drawing too much attention to yourself. People aren’t too bother by this camera. It’s small and unassuming, unlike a large DSLR that can often make people a little nervous when they see one pointed at them.
Anyway, hope to make up for my lack of street shooting from here on out. Here are some shots I got from my walk last week.
