My Canon 50mm f/1.2 lens has certainly won a place in my heart, more than almost any other piece of camera gear I’ve ever owned. This is the lens I used to photograph the image in yesterday’s post of the moon over Vegas. For that shot I was going for something different and shot it at f/22, but normally whenever I have this lens on my camera I shoot it wide open.
Is this lens perfect? No. Actually even at higher apertures it’s not the sharpest lens I’ve owned. And vignetting? Well, lets just say it’s noticeable. 🙂
But there’s something about this 50mm that really produces a little magic in each shot… and I’ll trade magic for perfect any day.
Here are some shots from a walk I took yesterday (and yes one is even in color!) Click on an image to see the larger version.
